A woman’s body was found in a house in Nanneriya, Parikulam. Police suspect she was murdered, as they discovered an axe near the body. The woman, a mother of three who lived alone, was reported missing by her son after she failed to answer his calls. A neighbor, sent to check on her, noticed a strong odor coming from the house. Authorities believe the murder occurred several days prior.
In a separate incident, an unidentified body was discovered at Mahaweli in Narangvita, Gampola, and is now at Gampola Hospital.
