Apple Fritters With Maple Glaze

If you’ve never had a good Apple Fritter, you haven’t lived up to your full potential. Homemade Apple Fritters are easy to create and taste out of this world. They are soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They are covered in a buttery maple glaze and almost melt in your mouth.

It’s not a test. The best thing I’ve eaten all year is one of these Apple Fritters. And I consume a lot of desserts, so you understand I won’t let you down. Don’t worry if you’ve never managed to make such a thing from scratch. These take a little more work than biscuits or brownies, but they’re still pretty.

Cooking tips for Apple Fritters:

  • Evenly dice the apples. Cut the apples into 1/4-inch cubes to ensure they all cook simultaneously.
  • Don’t mix the batter too much. If you mingle the batter too much, it can get chewy and feel bad. Mix until all the dry flour is gone and the ingredients are just combined.
  • Taste to flavor. Everyone has different tastes and inclinations, so you should try the batter before you fry it to ensure you have the correct amount of spices.
  • Fry in oil until both sides are golden brown. Fry fritters at 325F until they reach a medium golden color for the best taste. Fry a cake and cut it in half to test the temperature and ensure the batter is boiled through. If it’s still raw in the center, you either didn’t cook it long enough, or your oil is too hot.
  • Put on a wire rack to cool. Let the cakes awesome on a wire rack so that condensation doesn’t build up. This will help the outside stay crispy.
  • Glaze twice. Double-glaze your cakes to make them even sweeter.

Ingredients

Apple fritters are:

  • 4 cups apples
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 11/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt,
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder,
  • a pinch of ground ginger
  • 2 spoonfuls of brown sugar
  • 2 big eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsps unsalted butter
  • a tsp vanilla extract
  • frying oil

Maple glaze:

  • 1 cup of confectioner’s sugar
  • a tsp vanilla extract (or maple extract)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2-3 teaspoons of milk

Instructions

  • Dice the apples and post them in a large bowl. Attach the lemon juice and zest and stir to combine.
  • In another great bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk and add the milk, vanilla, and melted butter left to cool. Whisk until everything is mixed together.
  • Mix the flour, sweetener, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and ground ginger in another medium bowl.
  • Mix well until a loose dough forms when you add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  • Mix in the apple cubes with a rubber spatula.
  • Stream 3–4 cups of oil into a deep skillet or saucepan. Measure and see if you need 3–4 inches of oil.
  • Check with an instant-read thermometer that the oil is at 375°F when it has reached medium heat.
  • Use a 1/4-cup or 1/3-cup measuring cup to scoop the batter and drop it into the oil. Fry until golden brown on the outside. Turn them over with forks and fry the other side until golden brown, which should take about 4-5 minutes.
  • If you take a small, sharp knife and pinch the cake in the middle, it should come out clean. If not, boil for a bit lengthy.
  • Move the cooked cakes to a cooling rack lined with paper towels with a slotted spoon. Let them cool entirely before adding the glaze.
  • Repeat with the rest of the dough.

Apple Fritters With Maple Glaze Recipe (FAQs)

Can these be done in advance?

You can end up making the batter ahead of time and keep it in the fridge in an airtight container. But we don’t think you should fry them too long before you want to serve them.

How do you keep apple fritters fresh?

Storage for 1-2 days at room temperature in an airtight container or sealed bag.

How do I know what kind of apples to use?

This recipe works best with Honeycrisp apples, but you may also use Granny Smith apples, which are Kat’s favorite.

What kind of apples should I use for this recipe for apple fritters?

Granny Smith apples are utilized in this recipe because they are tart and firm, which means they can handle the high heat of deep-frying. Honey crisp fruit is also a good choice; the title tells you why: they are crisp enough to cook at a high temperature. You can also try Fuji, Winesap, Gala, or Red Delicious apples.

Is it better to make these in an air fryer?

Everyone knows that many people don’t like fried foods, but having one now and then as a treat won’t hurt anyone. But instead of hot oil, you can use an air fryer to make them. Line the basket of your air fryer with parchment paper and lightly oil it. Then, pour the batter into the basket with a measuring cup or spoon and cook it for 4 minutes on each side.
